A Prop Stylist aids brands in crafting a unified and consistent visual identity for their campaigns. They source and style props, garments, and accessories to align with the brand’s aesthetic and budget constraints. Collaborating with models, actors, and photographers, they strive to attain the envisioned look. Upon request, they also offer creative direction to fulfill the desired objectives.
The Prop Styling and Art Department work I complete is about making spaces, brands & products look their best. The layers of props, styling and art – department – cues come from the brief description, shot list or brand-integrity synopsis.
Prop-styling is not about the stylist’s personal decorating style or current decor preferences. Essentially, it involves attentive listening, collaborative teamwork, adept problem-solving, and adherence to the project brief. Additionally, it requires the ability to think on one’s feet and react swiftly as needed.
My method is diverse and encompasses a wide range of styles. The work I contribute to can be characterised as:
– Minimal and understated
– Contemporary and on-trend
– Bold or maximalist.
