Escape to the Country
Sharing some British Eye Candy – Escape To The Country Host – Alistair Appleton
A perfect night-in for me would include;
- a glass of wine
- a cosy couch
- warm fluffy slippers and
- a couple of back to back episodes of Escape To The Country.
For those of you that have not managed to catch an episode, Escape to the country aims to find the perfect country home for UK families wanting to get away from city living. There is something kind of dreamy and romantic about it. I really wish Australia had its own version of Escape to the Country; I believe, it would be a huge ratings winner.
Imagine, being able to watch “open homes” from the likes of Byron Bay, Bowral, Springwood, Middleton and Margaret River whilst enjoying “some lucky somebody’s” journey of toying with the idea of country living? Off-course the show would need a host with “lots of personality” (see British host Alistair Appleton above) and perhaps a cheeky stylist or two.
It would be great to revisit each “succesful sale” to see how the new buyers were enjoying their transition to country life. I’d be interested to see what changes they’d made to the homes, in order to make them more about their family. There would also be plenty of endless – yet – subtle branding opportunities for Australian business too! Lastly and more importantly, I think it would be a great way to showcase rural – town living in Australia!!!
Come on ABC – should we sign a petition… are you in?? And do tell me, what’s your favourite way to spend a night-in at home?

I am so in. I mean we have Selling House Australia, Grand Designs Australia, River Cottage Australia – all shows I absolutely love. I say give us an escape to the Country Australia too xx

I love this show! It really is my escape whenever I watch it. I tape it and watch it in bursts. I think it’s high time we started showing off Australia in the same kind of way. x
