I have chosen a selection of my favourite nature photographs to feature in the Stripes of Topaz store, initiating what I hope will become a broader collection with contributions from other photographers. This photo launch is a stepping stone towards realising a creative vision I’ve held for the store from its early beginnings.
The two framed images (see directly above) capture the simple beauty of nature found in my Samford Valley backyard. They remind me that beauty can be found anywhere provided we just take the time to look. I enjoy creating mood via a touch of drama in my photography work, but I prefer life to have less so.
The third photograph (see image below) is from a road trip journey in South Australia. I spotted a beautiful wild emu wandering through Innes National Park, which is located at the southern tip of the Yorke Peninsula. I’d never seen an emu in the wild before, it was magical!
I’ve named her Ethel after Ethel Wreck Beach (located nearby), which is also where a historic ship came aground in 1904. I’ve since tried to capture emus in other parts of Australia, and they’re just not as friendly or calm. Wildlife photography is challenging but, Ethel made capturing her a breeze.
I have specifically styled these photographic prints in my kitchen. This is because I’m a believer in decorating kitchens and bathrooms with the same detail of care as you would any other room. These spaces deserve art, and I’m keen for this collection to be curated as a fit for these spaces. Curious to learn more? You can explore the print collection here.
