MYTH DUSTING!

Have you ever watched Mythbusters? All geekiness aside, I like that concept of separating myth from fact/fiction. Consumerism can sway our perceptions of how to create a beautiful home. It can be overwhelming because we feel our homes are never enough.

Imagine a TV program, myth-busting misconceptions on how to make a beautiful home. A show based on real-family budgets and with zero makeover-miracles insight. Would you watch it? We could name the show “Myth Dusting”. Yoo – hoo Foxtel (I’m waving). Obviously, I would need to check my availability. All jokes aside, maybe you would like to join me? What home myth would you like to bust first?

Did you know that simple, great styling on a budget will always give a luxury home a sincere run for its money? The secret to having a great home is how it’s spatially planned and put together.  

Here are Six great qualities to create a beautiful home; a word of caution, some of these may surprise you!

1. Firstly the people who live within a home – will add more character, beauty and depth than anything you can purchase
2. Beautiful homes look lived-in
3. A home should reflect the personalities of the people who dwell in them
4. Time and energy are needed to style a home. It’s helpful to know that a stylist can work wonders with nothing, save money and help you fall in love with your home
5. Never underestimate a decent colour palate- it will create a mood and tie the many different elements of a room/house together.
6. Space, organisation and proportion are considerations for every room. Chunky-sized furniture pieces look great in spacious rooms. And smaller sizes and fewer pieces can make a room appear spacious
